Back home again, January 2
Heeeeerrrrrrreeee'sssssss Ronnie! Let's just say that the past six days have been less than a walk in the park. Once again, I reacted to a certain drug in the chemo process. Bottom line is that now I am somewhat normal (as normal as I could be for me) and am working at getting it back. Positive signs are that my blood readings and vital signs are all strong. I slipped in weight however, losing 12 pounds. I am working at eating what I can of greasy, decadent foods to get those pounds back. Will start up my daily walks again. Spirits are high and thanks to all those that responded to the blog. I didn't feel like reading them until this morning, but when I did they brought smiles, laughs, and tears to me. Thanks so much for the shot in the arm. Thanks also for my very protective daughter in keeping the blog updated. I love you, Tory. Also thanks to my other daughter, Tiffany, and her husband Andy, for the pedometer, so I could keep track of my miles. Love you both! To my son, Michael, thanks for the football updates during this bowl week. I love you, son! Thanks to everyone that have been following my progress. It really helps. I will now be home until the 16th. At that time I will have an MRI and decide what the next step will be. Either one more chemo or radiation. At least I will not be in a hospital away from everyone for two weeks. Love and thanks.

Great to hear from you personally! I talked to Uncle Bill this morning and he is back at work and feeling good. Let's hope no bugs from sick kids get him. He had a small taste of retirement, and he liked it. So I guess June is it for him.
We will probably be moving again next week or the week after. Plan on being at Riley's on the weekend of the 25th in Beaverton. I would love to stop by and see you if you're up to it. I'll call when I get in the area.
We are having a warm day today,51 degrees. I actually got the red cinders off my car finally.
Thanks for getting back on the computer so that I know that you're really better. I actually think your typing is improving. Are you using more than two fingers now? I know, just what you need after six grueling days, a smartass. Some things never change. Keep getting better.

Woo hoo! Glad to hear you up Dad! And I am very happy that you got some laughs out of the blog comments from various people (especially the one making fun of Tory? that was particularly fun for me) - definitely the best medicine. Love you!
Hello, Ron:
How awesome to have you back on the blog. It is such a comfort to know that you are back in familiar sorroundings, regaining strength, and craving all those foods that are so bad for you (clearly, you are on the way to recovery!).
Pace yourself and seize the moment!
Tina
Glad to see you typing so wonderfully Daddy! I just want to thank Mom for taking such great care of everything. Mom, you are such an amazing woman and your strength and love are astonishing. I also want to thank Tory for updating the blog when dad isn't up to it. Thank you!
Finally I want to thank dad for being him. You are so incredible and an inspiration to us all. You are the greatest. Basically, I think my family is the greatest and so amazing...Aaron and Michael included! Thanks for visiting daddy and giving him calls. The love of our family is simply amazing and is a gift to anyone. Thank you for being so wonderful!!!! And of course; thank you to everyone of dad and mom's friends who just show so much support and encouragement. It is very much appreciated.
Daddy, it is great to see you walking already! I love you so much!

Yea! Good to hear from you Bud! Glad you hear you're feeling better. It'll be worth it to decimate that cancer, but it's tough watching you go through this. I want you better soon!
I hope we can go on a walk sometime, Jefferson
My goodness you are incredible! After hearing how you were feeling yesterday, I thought it would have been a few more days before you got back online. Shows you what I know. During the holiday break we went to Alabama to visit Ed's family. Christmas Eve, at dinner, we were talking about the oldest living people, the oldest now living in Alabama. Well, I'm not sure how it came up but the Oldest Living Confederate Widow came up. Ed said, "Ask Linda, she knows ALL about her!" Of course I had to explain our video experience at school with you leaping over desks to stop the darn thing. But alas, it was too late. Have you ever seen it all the way through??? Glad to see you feeling better. Pulling for you! L.
My dear friend Ron,
So...you do the "Tonight Show" greeting the day the writers go back to work. Your timing is incredible. And so is your humor. And so is your entire family for keeping all of us updated with the good, and sometimes the bad, but always the needed, news about your journey.
All the postings are great, but it really lifts my spirit to see your own personal musings. As long as you feel up to typing, rest assured you have all our attention.
At times it seems so very personal to read about all the ups and downs going on in your life, but know that everyone is pulling for your eventual recovery...the quicker, the better.
Good luck in your batttle to put on weight. It is just like you to be going down a road that many of us can't understand, because we are trying to do the opposite.
Well, if you have any spare time to think up any positive thoughts for other battles, include the Beaver Basketball team. The Pac-10 season begins January 3rd. They need all the help they can get.
Take care, and keep on writing.

Ron,
Time to eat more donuts to get that weight back. Start with a dozen/day and work your way up form there. That should do the trick.
Keep blogging and Happy New Year to you and your family.
Mike and Beth
Welcome back Ronnie! That's great that your back in the saddle. I was at the Fiesta Bowl last night, could you believe how great West Virgina looked!
Ron, You are DETERMINED! I noticed that at Clear Lake years ago. Remember, fishing off that log and seeing all those fish on the bottom? In the first hour I had 6 and you had zippo. Perhaps too smugly, I challenged you to see who could get a limit (10) first. Next thing I knew I was looking at the short end of a 9 to 6 score. Don't ever count Ron Carey out. DETERMINATION!! You and your family are amazing. We are with you! I am antsy to walk with you . Let me know. Love you, guy......Harold
