As you can all see, dad's still not up to par. Tried for a walk today, but got the hiccups so bad he had to come home. Went in for his blood work today (his counts are pretty low so he's VERY susceptible to every germ - but that's to be expected at this point in his chemo treatments). He's still nauseous all the time.
The dr. prescribed some new medications in hopes that this new combination will be the right one for dad. Dad had a little talerina for lunch/snack today. He's been drinking & eating as much as he can - talk about amazing will power! We had steak, potatoes, salad, fruit, bread, & a little ice cream bar for dessert - dad did eat with us (great job, daddy, I know it wasn't easy!) & had the hiccups a "few" times. Please, please, please, everyone cross your fingers that this is the right combination of medications!
Thanks to everyone that has been resorting to this blog & email for communication with mom & dad! I know it's not easy to have to rely on modern technology & it takes longer to get a response, but it is very much appreciated! Mom & dad have been trying to nap (sleep has not been coming easy at night) during the day & with the phone ringing, it becomes a little difficult to get those much needed zzzzz's. Dad will let you all know, via the blog when he's back up & ready for phone calls & visits.

Mommy dearest, dinner was absolutely DELICIOUS! You spoil us!!! You are amazing, all you accomplish in a day, & then you feed your children that have been out of the house for years...by the way, I'll never turn that down...incredible woman!
& daddy, you never cease to amaze me! You look so good for being so miserable. I'm so proud of you! The way you are doing what you are "supposed" to be doing by constantly drinking & eating even though neither sound appealing. I hope hope that these (insert bad word) hiccups stop tonight! I hope that the new meds do the trick. I wish I could do something, anything for you. Any time you need a pick me up or just someone to talk about something random a million miles a minute, you know I'm only 3 miles away (even when I'm at work) & I will be there! Chris & I are looking forward to our Password game next week. Big hugs & lots of kisses! I love you!!!
Hello, Ron and Kathey:
It's good to hear that you are home, back in familiar and comfortable surroundings. You're both constantly in our thoughts. I was able to steal away yesterday for another morning of skiing and again thought of Ron: crisp, cold air, crystal blue sky, 2000 vertical feet. Love from all of us, Tina
Ron and Kathy, Hello from frigid BBR, -10 is normal night, -3 this morning when I let Sadie out. You are in our thoughts and prayers. The results sound positive, with your ability to exercise, you will bounce back. Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress. Is there anything we can do for you?? We will be in Arizona for much of Feb and Mar, to warm up. I will find a library computer to keep in touch. T&C
Dear Ron,
Thanks for taking time to personally write on this blog again. Your family does a fantastic job of keeping us informed, but it seems even more special when you pound on the keyboard yourself. If you keep this up, we'll even show you how to use "spell-check".
As I've said before, I am rooting for you and the Beavers this winter. I need to tell you that while I have complete confidence in you finishing on top during your path to wellness, I feel I have to support our Beavers this afternoon in their battle against USC. If they ever needed fans in the bleachers at Gill, they need them now.
All the best, my friend. You deserve nothing less because of the person you were, you are, and you will be.
Wish me luck in Corvallis...
Tom Cutsforth
I hope the hiccups stopped for you! I love you very much and am thinking lots about you and mom! I love you guys!
Love, Tiff
What a struggle, buddy! I'm so glad that you're home again, but I'm praying that the nausea, hiccups, etc. will subside so that you're up to having visitors and taking a few walks.
I wanted you to be the first to know that DeCarolis is going to interview me first to replace John as hoops coach, on the recommendation of Molly's boyfriend! He figures that as "expert" as I am at being an armchair coach, I'd be a pretty amazing hire! The only problem is that I'd have to sacrifice my educator's salary and take a pay cut to coach in Corvallis! (I know, THAT part is the most far-fetched item in this paragraph!)
Hang in there...I'll look forward to talking with you when you are up to it..stay encouraged!
Carl
Hi Ron and Kathy,
Betty recently informed Elaine, Sandy and me of this blog (I've never been on a blog before(Alan and Matthew know how tech. challenged that I am).
The farm and the casino will be waiting for you and your buddies to come and stay and eat after you have recovered. I hear that Spirit Mountain is going to build a new buffet. I'm not sure how welcome you will be there as they have lost a lot of money on you in the past! How could anyone spend 4hours eating? OK, maybe a little less than that.
We really miss the gang at the tailgate parties-it was always a lot of fun especially watching Sandy try to help Ernie erect that losey shade cover of his.
Take care of yourselves and we will all look forward to brighter days.
With love,
Jim, Sandy and Elaine
Hi Ron and family.Hopefully you are aware how much a lot of
people are thinking about you all.The last blog before me was sent at 11:40 last night(I had already been asleep for 3 hours by then) and I am writing this at 6:45AM.My point is Ron,everyone is thinking about you day and night.I hope you get your appetite back before Cathy and I starve to death waiting for you and Kathy to have dinner with us again.I see the Beavs got hammered again but I'm not gonna blame it on the new coach. Have to hold judgement and see what happens. As each day passes it gets closer to Beaver baseball season and fun times.preseason polls show UCLA #1,Arizona #2 and Beavers #7.Take care of yourself and know that we all are thinking positive thoughts along with you on this.
