January 3
Day two at home finds me with a pretty good night's sleep (as good as you can get when you have to get up every 4 hours to take medication.) I really want to thank my bud Carl and my daughter Tiffany for both going on walks of 1.3 miles each with me during the torrid rains yesterday. Thanks to my son Aaron for stopping by top spend time with me late last night. I love you, Aaron. Big thanks to my bud Barry and again my daughter Tiffany, for both going on a 3.5 mile walk with me today. I am feeling pretty good except for stomach pain caused from indigestion. Having problem now processing the food that I am being fed. Seems that if it is not one thing, it is another. I plan on continuing to work at gaining weight and getting exercise from walkiong to gain strength. Thanks so much again for all your support. What would we do without family and friends!

RC,
Glad to hear you are up and around. Fire up some of those whey protein shakes with peanut butter to pack on the pounds!
Now that college football season is over, I am sure you are excited to embark on the "get coach John out of town campaign" as the mighty Beavs prepare for an 0-16 Pac-10 schedule. At least you can watch UCLA and Duke knowing that two Oregon high schoolers got away from him.
Keep the faith brother. And anytime you need a laugh, just visualize BC jumping in Marion Lake trying to catch that fish that was falling off his hook. Or me firing that perfect rock spiral at the chipmunks hole! Or me being trapped inside that tent subject to the worst arsenal any Carey has to offer, ect , ect. Love you bro.

A protein shake just does not sound appetizing! Go Beavs! They are going to put a whooping on Arizona tonight! Wait...what? They lost by 50? Oh, well at least they made it close. (Yeah, that was me visualizing the near future - meaning tonight.) Man, they are ugly to watch. I mean, lose to Montana State just before the Pac-10 opener? {shudder} Hey, at least baseball season is right around the corner! I love you dad! Looking forward to seeing you and Mom tomorrow afternoon - we will be down there around 1:30 (I got someone to cover my desk for the afternoon, so I could leave at 11:30).
Hey Ron, this is Lunker, you know, the guy who had the big one on at Marion also! Probably the same big one that BC had!! You sound good today and will feel even better now that the Beavers were leading the whole first half only to lose it by 12. I'm in the same "JAY JOHN DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO COACH CLUB", so the sooner the better for his departure. I guess Giles missed practice and didn't play, what next for the C J "not phenom"? You take care and hang in there, I think the Beavers are going to be calling you and I very soon! Hey Cuts, did you use up all your eligibility? Love you Ron, see ya again soon, Lunker
Hey Ron,
I am so glad you got to be home for Christmas with your family! I actually got to come home for the holidays for the first time in 11 years. My brother-in-law was teasing me before we got here saying there was no room at the inn. So I asked him, "Why not, are there too many asses in the stable?" :>) It has been great being home and I think has given dad a little pick me up!
Stay strong and positive. I hope the rain will ease up for a few "dry" walks when you are able! Please send my best to the rest of the Careys! Hang in there! Love you, Dar
Hello, Ron:
It's great to hear that you are regaining strength, undeterred in your walking by something as trivial as rain. I thought of you during my own wet walk yesterday and how the Germans have a point when they claim that 'there's never the wrong weather, just the wrong clothing.' Thank goodness for Goretex. You're an inspiration, Ron. Love Tina
Hi Ronnie,Glad to hear your up and walking. Some of the comments I am hearing about the Beavers and coach John are too kind. There must be some Carey's somewhere with coaching experince.Thank God for Beaver baseball,Stutes and Reyes both back and preseason All Americans,2nd best recruiting freshman class in the nation.Get ready for another great season.I,m pulling for you buddy, keep eating the greasy fat packed wierd food and keep walking.I hope you threw away that duck shirt, don't make any more bets you can't afford to lose.

Ron, You are AMAZING! Up and walking so fast! Keep it up and get that weight on. (Did I tell you about the HD diet?) It sounds like there is going to be a run on going into Marion Lake with you this summer, so put my name on the list. I would love to hike in early again and fish, as long as you can assure me that there are no flying rattlesnakes. Hope to get a walk in soon. Harold
I didn't realize I had signed into the Beaver chatroom.... Since I did though, JAY JOHN ROCKS! At long as he is the coach, at least Oregon will consistantly beat you in one sport, you know, just until our baseball program is started. Then we will have two.
Kelly and I skied into the Jeff's View Shelter near Three Creeks Lake Yesterday. We took your shortcut straight up the hill (instead of following the road) and both commented that even after being in the hospital, you still could have beat us up that hill.
Glad you are home!
Ron, you are the inspiration! You are phenomenal! Your positive spirit comes through in all of your postings. I keep up with your progress through Harold, who checks the blog every morning. He actually showed me this morning how it works, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Kath, I think about you and Ron every day. My life is richer because you guys are such role models and make so much of what I am perplexed about, pale in comparison. God promises to grow good things in hard places and I see through this blog you are surrounded by beauty and love.
And Tory, from one who never really bought into blogging, this is fantastic. We live and learn every day.
Four days technically retired and lovein the feel baby. Hang tough. Karen
Hi Ron,
GREAT NEWS to know you're up and around again. The OSU men's basketball is suffering, but you should have been at the last Women's game on Thursday night. They played Arizona and beat them, but AZ had only 2 players on the floor at the end, and it went to two OT's. AZ brought only 6 players to play, and they fouled out one by one. I have never seen a team field only two players and still play. Ernie said he's seen 4 and possibly 3, but never 2 either.Very interesting game. OSU would have looked really bad if we'd lost to AZ playing only two, huh?
Hope to see your Mom today. I'm sure she'll have more good news on your situation.
Lindell and Ernie
Hi again Ron,
We just returned from a most delightful visit with your Mom, and, of course, you called while we were there. :)
We heard/told some great stories and there's sure to be more at a later time.
Hope your day is going well. Get those walks in and eat that high caloric food, ok?
Lindell and Ernie
