January 6

This morning finds Tiff and I walking in the snow again, taking Bailey (her puppy) for a walk. I am pleased to announce that I have put on two pounds today, I weigh myself three times a day and as of yesterday at ten in the morning I am exactly two pounds heavier. This is after a great breakfast of eggs, cheese, toast, orange juice and cocoa. Pastries are still off limits to me; they sound horrible. Brother Brad came down and went for a walk with Tiff, Andy, Kath and I. Walks continue to be the highlight of my day because I get to be outside and it does wonders for my mental outlook. Kath and I beat Andy and Tiff at Password last night, stayed up late to get a few games in before bed. I had a good night sleep and I know this because I woke up at 4:30 and 8:00 because I sweat the bed so badly we had to change all sheeting. It is always tough to get a good night sleep because I do sweat the bed and if I don't sweat the bed then I don't have a good nights sleep. It is a catch 22. Kath and Andy textured the wall this morning. We are continuing to get the house ready for someone to buy. Again, I appreciate hearing comments from my family and friends. I continue to do well and we are witnessing a monumental occasion right now. Kath is sitting on the couch relaxing!!! Granted she is fidgeting her leg right now, which is a common thing. Another positive is that I have cut back on all medication and I am only taking the nausea medication as needed.

Thanks and have a great week everyone!

Ron, You are such an inspiration! Keep putting those pounds on. Remember that old Chinese proverb - It is better to sweat the bed than to wet the bed. Enjoy, Harold

Some things I envy about Ron... and some I don't:

I envy his opportunity to experiment with drugs... but not the reasons why he's doing so.

I envy his opportunity to eat and eat and eat... but again, not necessarily the reasons why.

I envy his willpower, his mental toughness, and stamina.

I envy his legs and heart and the miles across which they've carried him.

I envy his committment to his team... but not necessarily the team.

I envy his new low maintenance haircut... but not the wig I bought for him (think Twisted Sister!)

Miss you lots around WOU!

Ron,

I'm glad to hear you're recovering from your last session, have an appetite and are gaining some weight back. As we yelled to runners from vans in relays past, "Keep going, you're looking good!"

And by the way, since pastries don't taste good to you right now feel free to ignore my "eating doughnuts to gain weight" suggestion from a previous comment.

Hey Ronnie - I walk by the Sigma Nu House daily because I feel so close to you old guys and have very fond memories of spying on all of you - so cute, especially one "Cuddler" in a bright green robe, a bright orange, fuzzy hat, and a big silver.......never mind...thinking of you especially.

Hello Ron and Kathey:
I'd have to agree with Harold, it is indeed better to sweat the bed than to wet it. Your words are inspiring, Ron. It is so wonderful to hear that you are up and about, not lacking motivation, companionship, and mental activity. Keep it all up. We all thought of you on Sunday as we enjoyed a beautiful morning skiing at our local Summit. My son, Peter, exhibits a bit of you determination; he broke his tibia early last season but is back on skiis as if nothing ever happened. Both of you inspire. We're with you everyday in thought and prayer, Tina

I'm enjoying the prophetic friends you keep company with ;)The time with family and friends sounds delightful; hopefully we can get in on a little of that when we are over next, around Jan 20-22nd as Chuck heads for work again at Santiam Mem. Hosp. I hope to bring Wendi and/or Tami with me. We have lots of the white stuff on the ground here on the West side of Bend, and postponed the moving truck till Wed so that we could avoid this next front. The East side has less severe wind, snow and thus should be easier to arrive with belongings this week. I wish I had more time for the fun in the snow right now, and do get my walks-slippery runs in with Bo twice daily, but that packing sure takes a lot of time and energy; when you're ready I'll be an expert to come and help! So pleased to hear that the food is tasting better, that's some appetite: two steaks, I'm impressed! Since I have been experimenting with vegieism, I suggest the bland but perfect protein grain xalled Quinoia. Let me know if you want to hear more about it- your "Rabbit" foodie XOXO lynne
