Well, dad & mom are home safely.
Dad's not feeling up to par (this would be an understatement) & is comfortable at home with just mom right now. We will let you know when he is up to phone calls & visitors. No food or drinks sound good. He's supposed to eat VERY bland food to keep his stomach as settled as possible. He still feels nauseous & the Dr said that is would last for awhile.
The last time he came home from his chemo treatment - he is much the same today as he was then. The chemo has caused him to be unsteady on his feet & he isn't eating much of anything. He also isn't (& wasn't) very social because talking & visiting caused those painful/annoying hiccups. The hardest part for dad (& all of us) is that it was easy to forget all the challenges the 1st chemo treatment brought...but Dad, you'll get through these rough patches again.
So (here comes the annoying daughter part), please do not stop by mom & dad's & please do not call them. It's hard for mom to talk on the phone (it's difficult for her to keep answering everyones questions & to rehash all that is going on) & dad wakes up when the phone rings. We will let you know when they are ready for phone calls & visitors. We think it was about a full week before dad was up to it (& this time he was sicker, so it may take awhile longer this time). Sorry for the bluntness, but we are trying to look out for mom & dad & do what's best for dad's speedy recovery.
What you can do, is keep saying hi via the blog or email or snail mail. Mom does read the postings/emails/cards to dad & they both appreciate the distractions!

Ron & family,
Chris just passed on a message about your health. This is a super way to stay in touch with family & friends.
The blog photos show that you live your life with passion and strength, and so too will you fight this fight. Each day will bring new triumphs and challenges, push on one step at a time.
You'll be in my prayers!
(Doug Grant's sister)
Tory,
You keep right on protecting your mom and dad. With your blog, we can stay on top of how your dad is doing without disturbing them. You are a great daughter! Linda
Daddy - we love you & hope for a quick & speedy recovery this time! Drams has chicken soup for you when you are ready for it, you just have to say the word. Can't wait until I get to come visit & annoy you with all my bouncing around. Have a fabulous night & I hope you get some good sleep!
Tiff & Andy...thanks for the help in "polishing" the post! Hope the cleaning is fun. :)
Well, the first half showed that Illinois does not belong in a BCS game! They do not belong on the same field as USC!
Earlier in the day, Missouri's thrashing of Arkansas showed that they would have made a much better opponent for USC.
Stupid Rose Bowl coordinators. Hope you are enjoying the games today, Dad!
Ron and Kathy, HAPPY NEW YEAR! This has to be a better one than 2007. Glad your daughter has put a stop to calls and visits, as I am sure peace and quiet will be much appreciated after your days at OHSU. The blog is a great way to keep up with you without having to bug you. I sure hope you start feeling like yourself again soon.
Love to you both.
C.
42-10 with almost a quarter of play left - enough said.
Hello, Ron and Kathey: that you have returned to the comforts of home is welcome news, indeed. The boys and I have likewise safely returned to Issaquah and will resume our work day / school day routine tomorrow. I'll be checking in every morning and all of us will continue to send positive thoughts and prayers your way. We're with you every step of the way, Tina and Family.
Hi Mom and Dad,
I don't want to bother you with the phone, but I just wanted to tell you both that I love you very much. I can't wait to see you both; whether it be tomorrow or the next day or the next day. I want you both to be relaxed so just let me know when you are up for visits from your grandpup and me.
Right now I am watching football while Andy and two of his friends try to figure out how to get the piano inside the house. They were quite surprised to feel how heavy it is, as you know all too well. It is quite amusing from my side. :)
Dad, every time I check your blog I see all of these comments from everyone. It is a true testament to your character that you have such loving and loyal friends. Not many people have touched the lives of so many as you have. You are the most amazing man and I know you will be back to good in no time. Have a good night sleep, both of you.
I love you!
Love,
Sniffer sneeze
Ron,
I just wanted to let you know that we (not Tiff) moved the piano into the house today. I can't believe you moved it out of your house in the first place. I think it is one of the last pianos made completely of iron with a wood finish... or maybe it just felt that way. I hope you were able to watch some of the lopsided football games today, what a boring day for football. Let me know when you want me to help with the dining room. I hope you get some sleep tonight.
Andy
RC,
The first day of 2008 may be crummy, but I know it will get better. It can't help but get better with all the love and positive support that is flowing your way. You are truely loved my man, and have impacted a lot of lives in a positive way.
You sure didn't miss any good football today. Not sure who is picking the BCS games, but they got it wrong this year.
We ended up going to the beach to play football rather than watching it. And that was after the kids made it till midnight at a party last night. Figured today would be a typical New Years day of lazing around and eating food, but the BCS did not keep our interest!
We are thinking of you bro, and I eagerly await the day when we will be relaxing poolside, lakeside, boatside, or beachside in the near future. Suck it up!
Love,
C
Ron, I went out for a run this AM and memories of our runs flooded my brain. Portland Marathon...Sublimity.. Bohemia..Veterans Day..The Civil War relay when your new Aerostar got dinged. And of course, the Hood to Coast. Did we really do it 6 years captain? What a blast! My wish for you is to lick this sucker ASAP. When you do, I will pay your entry fee to the walk or run of your choosing. Wouldn't that be cool to do it with all of your friends and family? Hope the next couple days are better. Harold
Hey Mom and Dad! Well, it's back to go, go, go now that the holidays are over (12/22-1/1). No more boring. Amber and I are going to get our Passport pictures taken at Costco after work today. I am pretty excited! Well, after those "BCS" games yesterday, I can understand if you are a little nauseated. It's all a bunch of hogwash! Love you both!
