February 6

I'm not sure if my parents (or siblings) will post anything tonight, but I'm sure many will be wondering...yes...dad did finally get a room. He will be hydrated for 4 hours & then they will start the chemo drip (there will be no delay with that, tonight, because the medication is already up on the oncology floor - YEAH, something went smoothly!) at about 11:30pm.

Mom & dad went to Great Harvest this morning for lemon poppyseed scones & they waited around to hear from the hospital. They finally headed up to Portland at about 3:30pm. I can tell you that dad was thrilled because he was able to drive. Yep, the dr gave him the green light yesterday.

It's hospital time...yep...please no phone calls until it's all done...it's the last time we have to say this...WA-FREAKING-HOO!!!

More will be posted tomorrow night late (if dad doesn't end up writing a post tonight). Time for many happy thoughts again...I'm raising my glass of cab for you & mom, dad! The next glass will be raised for all of you that continue to follow this blog, to call & write, think of our family, pray for our family, & love our family! Here's to the last round!!!

Tory, Is it too late for Karen and I to ADOPT you? You are so amazing! Of course, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Thanks for all that you do protecting your parents and keeping us up-to-date on your dad's PROGRESS. We all want to see him get over this hump. That chemo sounds so ugly. Praying for less side effects this round, Harold and Karen

To The Carey Family,

You're just about through with the hard part. I know you keep hearing this, but all of you are amazing for handling the events in your life the way you have throughout this adventure. We have all learned much about courage by following Ron's path to recovery. What shines through this web page is not only Ron's courage, but also your courage, and the patience, love, and understanding he is surrounded with because of his family.

Keep those positive thoughts and know that you have many, many friends here who take strength in your courage, and hope the day comes very soon for Ron to be done with this ordeal and back to his normal way of life...if a 50-Mile marathon can ever be considered "normal".

See you soon,

Tom Cutsforth

Thanks for the much-anticipated update, Torey: All of us here are relieved that the last round of chemotherapy is underway; we all pray for minimal negative side effects and a short hospital stay. The boys and I will be in Albanny week of 18 February and we look forward to walking with Ron in Salem! Keep us posted, Tina

Now that your pedometer is dialed to the hundredths, it's time to check out the nurses on 44 loops and see if it's really a mile :)
And maybe one of the stations are offering poppy-seed scones. B.

Glad that you are finally settled in and can complete this final round, buddy! Here's to unparalleled success in the process and the green light for the radiation to completely finish the job. I'm looking forward to walking with you and watching you get stronger and feel better every day!
