February 7

Good evening to all!

Dad's doing much better today (a nice change from the past 2 chemo treatments). He looks great (well, for a guy that's hooked up to medication that nurses can't touch because it's so hazardous)! They had that vegetable quiche for lunch again today. Needless to say, mom went to the cafeteria & bought him a burger & a Haagen Dazs bar - much better option. Tonight dad ordered a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, some apple pie, & broccoli for dinner. It was either that or the salisbury steak. Good choice dad! He has no nausea right now, but the shakes are hitting him intermittently. Hopefully they stay away for another 48 hours. He & mom are watching a lot of senseless tv in the hospital (yep, just like at home). Michael & Amber rented them Wedding Crashers (fantastic choice) & The Comebacks. Hopefully they help pass the time in an enjoyable way.

Hey, Ron, Kath and kids:
Glad that the nausea isn't an issue right now...I'm praying that will continue to be the case! I agree with Buck about the Beavs...the only thing that's anywhere nearly as bad is the way that a good Oregon team is getting roughed up by the rest of the teams in this insanely competitive league! UCLA and Stanford have that extra something (Sorry Michael, but the 'cats are a step behind those two right now, buddy!), but there just isn't an easy game on the slate - unless your team is fortunate enough to draw OSU!
Be encouraged, Ron...A TON of people are thinking of you, praying for you, and loving you and your family! Expect to hear something from Bill and Peggy once in awhile now too, since Bill found this blog site the other day!

Hi All,
You are almost across the finish line Ron!!! :) I look forward to taking a walk with you soon. Even though you should be eating broccoli and green stuff like that...I'll bring something like chocolate to make it all better. :) XO Morsel

Hello Ron,
I'm home from Antarctica and have just now read all of the blog and comments since I've been gone. It seems as if you've gone through the worst and last session. I'm glad to hear things are as good as they can be. I look forward to reading the next update (either from you or from Tory). Again, Ernie and I wish you all the best. Keep that great attitude going.

Ronald,

I've been thinking of how different my life would be if I didn't have you as my friend. You are the first friend I've had that really made me feel like I was worthwhile. You've always been an encouragement to me. I tend to perceive myself as unable and unworthy. Unable to shape my destiny- a pawn in the game of life. Your positive, enthusiastic encouragement has made me realize that I am just as good as anyone else. (Maybe even a little better than some). You have made me feel valued as a person. I know you have had the same effect on countless others. It's obvious why people enjoy spending time with you. You make people feel valuable and you really know how to laugh and have fun. I am greatly indebted to you my friend.

Hey Carey Clan:
Ah, this is mile 21, if you're a lowly marathoner (RMC, think 50-100, by the way where does the wall occur on such an endeavor? we'll talk later) and the many feelings of accomplishment should be washing over you soon! You have done the prep work of chemo and the crowd loves you, so even if you're tired, worn down by the mental and physical energy this is taking, you will be there soon= home, resting in your own bed/house, enjoying the fam, friends, games and a recovery process. You may have worn out a few of those "Legs" we talked about early on, but you have so much positive energy coming your way from all of us that the lift is just around the next corner and out that hospital!
Hope you feel up to pastries soon, let me know what homemade version we should bring you! LIVESTRONG my friend!
XOXO lynne and chuck, + Bo
