I begin chemo again this coming Wednesday. This will be the last three week session before they do another MRI to see how effective it has been. I use a brace on my right leg which works well on flat surfaces. I cannot go anywhere if there are stairs. I continue to use my walker to get around. I am in the process of getting a wheelchair for longer outings. I have been receiving physical therapy for the past couple of weeks. I am trying a "tens unit" to see if it can help control my spikes of pain. It is difficult to tell whether or not it is working.
I only have two more weeks of work through Western Oregon University for the school year. I've been able to do this effectively due to my wife driving me to my schools and helping me get through the doors. I appreciate Barry taking me last week. Thanks to my wife and Barry, we've been able to put ramps on both the back and front doors, additional handles in the shower, and an elevated toilet seat. All these improvements have helped a lot. I am learning to adapt to not being able to do many things. I cannot sit for any length of time without pain. The people at Costco wondered about me last night when we went to eat pizza. Since I cannot sit for very long, I would lay on the bench for a bit while I ate and then I would sit for a little bit and then lay back down.
As always, I appreciate all you thoughts and comments. You are all appreciated.

Thanks so much for calling me last weekend to let me know about the Duck's Civil War Baseball meltdown. Fortunately I was camping so I didn't have to listen to it.
Glad you are able to remain so positive with everyting going on. Praying that the next round of chemo is effective.
Kelly and I think of you and your family often. Hopefully we can get together soon.

Hi,
I just got caught up and am so proud of you and Kath- you are and always have been one of my heros and your fight and spirit is amazing.
I told you how much I have been thinking about you coming off of coaching Maddie in basketball, and today I sent her to Outdoor School. I was remembering and telling the kids about a certain teacher who hung all of "the girls" stuffed animals from the cabin ceiling, took us to "slippery rock", and Teresa T. and I finding the special teacher/hiding spot on our big "capture" game and how we snuck some of the candy bars!!!
What a time we had and the memories!!
My love and prayers are sent to the whole Carey Clan- xoxoxo
Mr. C,
Last post was from me, Chrissie-I am very blogger challenged!
Chrissie let me know of your blog and your battle. I was so glad! You know how through out your life you get asked who your favorite teacher is?? Or the reminder questions for yor passwords ask that??? Well you have always been mine:). I have such great memories of 6th grade, Rabbit basketball, night hike at Outdoor School and babysitting your cute (now very grown) kids! Thank you for the great gift of your mentorship in so many ways. I have six kids, one of which plays basketball and was a freshman this last year. All through her middle school years I wished she could have had a coach like you--we had to pursue lots of outside coaching separate from the school team.:)
I don't pretend to know the struggles you have been through but our third son, suffered from a rare tumor/disease in his spinal canal five years ago and had to go through chemo. We were blessed to be at a place that was able to diagnose him(Vanderbilt), knew how to treat him and he just graduated from high school seventh in his class! Football team captain to boot:)! Five years ago I never could have imagined this day! As I have read some of your blog I know you continue to have the great outlook and positive attitude that will take you through! Know that you, your still beautiful wife and kids are in my prayers!
You still have that great infectious smile!:) Love, Cristen Clark Taylor
