New update, but still....Please Email Only

Please continue to respect our wishes of maintaining communication via email.

We wanted to let everyone know that this morning our father passed away.  The last day had been very peaceful and he went with the love of his life by his side.  Thank you for the prayers and thoughts you have given our family over the last 5.5 years.  Please continue to have us in your thoughts as we remember the amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend that he was.  He will continue to live on in our stories and memories. :)

Memorial Service is pending.  We will post it up here the second we know and it will also appear in the obituaries.

When I heard the news today, I found myself reflecting on how lucky I was to have known Ron. He was such an amazing friend. I was laughing about some of the adventures we had. The tailgating at OSU, hiking to Hunt's Cove, running the half-marathon I didn't train for, and skiing on frozen snow at midnight outside a forest service lookout tower were some of the first memories that came to mind. Whenever Ron and I were about to take off, Kathy was always there to tell us to, "Make Good Choices," even though she knew that probably wouldn't be the case.

I also started thinking about what an amazing family you all are. I started reading from the beginning of this blog tonight, and it was obvious the support that your family gave Ron. I truly believe one of the reasons Ron was able to battle the cancer these last 5 years was because of your family. The care that Kathy provided Ron over the last 5 years is truly inspirational.

I will continue to pray for your family. Sending lots of love your way.

Mr. Carey,

You will be sorely missed. Even though it has been over 20 years since I shared your science classroom my freshman year at Sprague, I will never forget the looks we exchanged as the "DUDES!" behind us muffed their science experiment, all the while shouting to one another, "DUDE! It's sucking into the tube! DUDE! Hold on to it! DUDE! DUDE! OH...DUDE!"

I will also never forget the pain you and Mr. Starr put me through on the "Tour de Spa" - riding to Sisters and back in two days; WITH NO TRAINING!

To Kathy, family, and friends; may God's indescribable peace be with you in this time. You are all loved.

I wish I could be there Saturday, but I will be there in spirit.

Ron would be happy to know that I am (somewhat) following in his footsteps; I've been teaching for 10 years now; currently teaching both middle school math and at the community college in the aviation department.

Kathy, I'd love to be able to pass along a picture of Ron, Jeff, and I on that bike ride to post here. If you or the kids would like to email me at brownag@eou.edu I'll be happy to send it along.

Love you guys!
